Location[]
In Julia Chaney's house, floating above the bathtub.
Overview[]
Mrs. Boyle berates Sally for liking chemistry and space, telling her no man would want that in a wife.
Transcript[]
Sally: "They were interested in what I had to say!"
Mrs. Boyle: "Boys just pretend they are, but they only want one thing."
Sally: "Maybe they actually think I'm clever!"
Mrs. Boyle: "A girl who mucks about with chemicals and reads about rocket ships... is that a girl who'll have your dinner waiting for you? Is that who you want for a mother of your son?"
Sally: "Christ, I'm thirteen! Isn't it just a little early to worry about that?"
Mrs. Boyle: "I won't be around forever! You need to make yourself more agreeable."
Sally: "I don't even want children."
Mrs. Boyle: "Of course you do. It's the only way you keep a man when your looks go. And they do, sooner or later."
