"WE'VE COME TO THE END OF OUR TIME! WE'VE COME TO THE END OF OUR TIME! WE'VE COME TO THE END OF OUR TIME!"
— Theodore Miner, in writing and in person as he attacks Arthur Hastings.

Theodore Miner was a council worker who was stationed at the Motilene Distribution Node on Barrow Holm (referred to as Station 4). He serves as the first enemy that the player faces in We Happy Few.

Buff TypicallyBritish History[]

In September 1964, Theodore began to suffer from Joy intolerance after taking some from a 'bad batch'. Theodore, mistaking his condition to be the result of weak Joy, increased his intake over the course of several weeks. During this period, Theodore began to suffer from a variety of symptoms, including stomach pains, extreme paranoia, and mania; he also began stealing and hoarding food. This behaviour would be picked up on by his colleague, Rupert Underhill, who reported Theodore and asked to have him reassigned. Theodore eventually suffered a psychotic break and, on 6 October, brutally murdered Rupert. He then locked himself into the control room of the distribution node.

Buff PureBliss Events of We Happy Few[]

Arthur makes his way into Station 4 just after the Prologue, after being chased out of the Parade District by the Bobbies. When Arthur enters the lavatory, Theodore can be heard moving around through the vents connected to the control room. After opening the control room door with an Electro-Lock Shocker, Arthur will be attacked by Theodore. The player can either knock Theodore out, or push him away and ignore him.

Climbing through the vents in the control room will lead to Theodore's stash, where the items he stole can be found. The vents and walls are covered in smiley faces and nonsensical scribbles.

Buff Conformist Trivia[]

  • According to Rupter, Theodore hoarded carrots, potatoes and other foodstuffs. If the player crawls into the vent in the control room, they can find his stash:
  • The player can actually bypass Theodore Miner without having to knock him out by simply avoiding him. If the player shoves him away and locks the control room to keep Theodore out, they can unlock the hatch and leave without fighting him. After the player leaves the underground and returns, Theodore Miner will be gone.
