The Great Escape is the one and only quest for Arthur, Sally, and Ollie in Survival Mode.
Objectives[]
- Survive and Escape!
In-Game Description[]
Damn lucky nobody found me passed out here. I won't last long if that happens again, so I better find shelter, fast.
I'm famished, I'm parched, and exhausted, but I do know that there's a way out of this place... if I can survive long enough to find it.
Walkthrough[]
Basics[]
The quest appears as soon as the playable character wakes up. The location of which the player begins in is random every time, if the player finds themselves in the Garden District as either Arthur or Sally, it's best to find a rock to tear up their suit first. As Ollie, the player will have to craft a Boiler Suit, which only requires a Military Uniform and some leather scraps.
As all characters, the first thing to do is to find a shelter, two will appear on each island in a random location. The player may find food and water on their way on finding shelter, but be careful not to hoard every and all items lying around, as the player will have low inventory space.
Inventory Management[]
Unlike Story Mode, the player is unable to use the items they've put in the Pneumatic Stash, meaning they'll only be able to use the ones from their inventory.
It's highly advised to keep some food, drinks, and healing balms on at all times so that the player doesn't die accidentally. It's also best to leave any items that won't be useful in the location the player is currently in, such as shortspikes, which are only useful in Hamlyn Village.
The only way to maximize the inventory space is to find Pocket Expansion Kits and Inventory Expansions, or level up skills.
Gaining Skills[]
To gain skills, the player has to find Gildy Pleasure Masks, which appear as regular memory masks. Each and every one of them yield 6 skill points. They can be found in special locations, or inside of chests and safes.
End Goal[]
The goal of Survival Mode is to find 5 Boat Capacitors that will be used to power up a Bristol Pilot boat, this way, the player will be able to escape Wellington Wells.
However, all of the islands are blocked due to their bridges being locked, and these bridges require a Bridge Key Card in order to open.
To find Bridge Key Cards and Boat Capacitors, the player must search through special locations, indicated by black icons with a white eye inside. It is possible to find both items in one location.
When the player reaches the Boathouse with all 5 Boat Capacitors, they can power up the boat and escape.
Time[]
Time goes by quickly in Survival, 1 in-game minute is 1 second in real life, so the days go by fast.
Despite this, every NPC follows their usual routine, same goes for Uncle Jack's shows.
Needs[]
Hunger, Thirst, and Fatigue is deadly. Letting one of the needs drop to 0 will kill the player, if the player does't take care of their needs, it's game over.
Trivia[]
- It's possible for Uncle Jack's shows to cut off short before another completely different show begins, this is due to the time difference between Story Mode and Survival Mode.
