Scotch is a drink in We Happy Few.

Buff TechFriendly Overview[]

Scotch will increase the player's thirst by 02'30'' in Story Mode, and 6% in Survival Mode.

The player's vision will blur for a second after drinking Scotch. They can also bribe a bottle to a Bobby. When drunk, they'll drop an item from their inventory and ignore the player, allowing them to do whatever would usually make them aggressive.

The player will always get a glass bottle in return.

NOTE: Thirst cannot be stacked in Story Mode, it's best to drink one thing.

Buff Conformist Trivia[]

  • The back of the bottle reads "Aged in wood. Bottled, sealed and numbered at the distillery, Benton Falls, UK."
    • There is no Benton Falls in the UK. (Benton Falls is in Tennessee)
  • If the player is quick enough, it's possible to grab the bottle once the Bobby they've bribed has thrown it, this is tricky to pull off as timing is essential.
    • However, the player won't actually get the bottle back in their inventory.
  • The name on the bottle, John A. MacDonald, is likely a reference to the first prime minister of Canada, who was also notorious for his extreme drinking habits.
  • The side of the bottle reads "We will give $100.00 for evidence leading to the detection of any one refilling the MacDonald Whiskey in any manner or for selling something else and calling it MacDonald when MacDonald is asked for. Rohr MacDonald Distilling Co."

Alcohol is the earliest version of Scotch, available since the Pre-Alpha build 11219 of We Happy Few.

Buff TechFriendly Overview[]

Alcohol is a good alternative for when the player is in Hamlyn Village and can't get any clean water. It'll increase the player's thirst by a significant amount, and decrease their hunger a little.

Unlike how Scotch works today, Alcohol doesn't blur the player's vision for a second, and it couldn't be bribed to Bobbies until the 17956 build.

It took up 2 slots in the player's inventory, and could only be placed upwards. Alternatively, it could be placed in the player's quickslot.

Buff Conformist Trivia[]

  • Before Rubbing Alcohol existed, Alcohol was used to craft Bandages.
  • When giving Alcohol to a Bobby, instead of the prompt reading 'Give Scotch', it said 'Give gift'.
  • In the 21735 build of the game, the player could give Alcohol to all of the NPCs, not just Bobbies. However, the Bobbies were the only NPCs that'd accept the gift, as the other NPCs would decline and become suspicious of the player.
