Richard Bates is the music shop owner and husband of Kitty Bates in the Lightbearer DLC.
Events of the Lightbearer DLC[]
Richard overhears Kitty talking to Nick in his shop, popping up behind the counter to talk to Nick himself.
He refuses to sell Nick a new amp, saying it's because he doesn't like musicians. He also subtly tells him about a bloke who broke his neck the other night in the hotel park, hinting he believes Nick had something to do with it.
Later in the DLC, Richard's body can be found on the rooftop with a note from Foggy Jack nearby. The cause of his death is revealed in a flashback like cutscene, showing he was wandering around looking for his wife before his murder.
