It has come to my attention that camp morale remains low, despite increased Joy rations. Apperantly some men still nurse feuds dating back to [crossed out: P.O.W. days] youthful times. It is imperative that we [crossed out: cast aside childish things] function as one unit.

Unfortunately, our amateur dramatic society has not improved morale. Perhaps the choice of Richard the Third was to blame. Could we not instead mount a comedy? (I myself love Much Ado About Nothing.)

I am also distressed by reports of pranksters attempting to scare Lance Corp. Straveling when he is on night guard duty at the monument. Fear of ghosts in indeed unmanly but it is not the place of fellow soldiers to take it upon themselves   [left unfinished]
