Quests are encounters or tasks the player finds as they explore Wellington Wells, many of which have to be completed in order to advance through the story of We Happy Few.

Upon the completion of a Quest, the player is rewarded with Skill Points that can be used to unlock abilities.

Story Quests[]

Story Quests are the main encounters that tell the story of the game, and must therefore be completed in order to advance and complete it. Story Quests are present in all three Acts, and DLCs, although they're disabled during The Night Watch, and Survival/Sandbox Mode, since they don't focus on the story.

Because the game isn't linear, the player is free to explore the rest of Wellington Wells and return to the story whenever they want. It's also possible to fail objectives and still carry on with the story.

Side Quests[]

Side Quests are encounters that are separate from the main story, and are not required to be completed in order to finish the game. They are categorized under the location of where they take place, such as Popped Popper which is located in Maidenholm, and Bring Out Your Dead in Eel Pie Holm.

Some Side Quests may appear under Unknown Location Quests. These are equivalent to tutorial quests that are meant to teach the player how to heal themselves, cure themselves from Food Poisoning, etc.

All of the Side Quests are available in each Act. They are not randomised.

Buff TypicallyBritish History[]

Although Quests were first implemented in the Pre-Alpha 17956 build, Encounters and Events existed well before the 17956 build, though they didn't have a dedicated menu where the player could check which quests they had found and what to do next.

Considering that the encounters At Cutty's and An Odd End existed as early as the Pre-Alpha 11219 build of We Happy Few, they are technically the first ever quests in the game. The quest, At Cutty's, was removed completely after the 17956 build, and the quest, An Odd End, was overhauled into the current quest, You Can't Beat the Odds.

In the 21735 build, the quests menu and journal shared the same screen. This was changed in the Early Access 27755 build, in which the two menus still shared the same screen, but were separated by two tabs.

Also in the 27755 build of the game, many Side Quests had a random chance of appearing at the start of a new game, although very few quests would appear every single time.
