The Plough Boys is a gang made up of Wellies encountered in We Happy Few. They are only present in Hamlyn Village.
Appearance[]
All of the Plough Boys are seen wearing blue jeans and leather jackets over white turtlenecks. Most of them also wear motorcycle helmets, with the exception of the leaders, who are recognized by their slick pompadours.
Personality[]
It seems like the Plough Boys have a resentment against authority, or at least people of higher status, like Victoria Byng, Sally Boyle, and Arthur Hastings.
Aside from that, they also seem to go after people who wouldn't be able to defend themselves so easily, like Lionel Castershire, and Edmund MacMillan.
Gameplay[]
The Plough Boys are essentially a tamer equivalent of the Headboys, the self-proclaimed authority figures of the Garden District. And while they don't roam around town during the night, they're still troublemakers who appear every now and then.
Events of We Happy Few[]
Act I[]
The Plough Boys are first encountered by Arthur after he accidentally met Sally in the alley. The leader's line "Damnit, she's scarpened!" suggests they were originally looking for her.
The second encounter occurs when he's searching for Edmund Macmillan, the butcher's delivery boy and an old friend of Percy's. Arthur discovers that the Plough Boys have beaten Eddie up and broken his legs, leaving him defenceless.
Arthur tells the Plough Boys to leave Eddie alone, and to "pick on someone who can defend himself." One of them, the leader, says to Arthur, "Now why the fuck would we do that?" He then realizes that he's talking to Arthur Hastings, Victoria Byng's 'pet'.
They jump Arthur, and are dispatched by him before he proceeds to help Eddie.
Act II[]
The Plough Boys can be encountered again, this time by Sally Boyle twice. First when she is exiting Nick Lightbearer's Fab Pad after retrieving Faraday's favourite record. And second when she is sent by Cap'n Strawbeard to retrieve the Salty Dog from them (which contains the Hope Diamond, one of the prized jewels of England).
They also ambush her while she's exiting Nick Lightbearer's home.
Survival[]
During Survival Mode, the Plough Boys will walk around town and do all the regular things that Wellies do.
Trivia[]
- They are the only NPCs in the game who wear jeans.
- The book, The Art of We Happy Few, mentions that the Plough Boys were inspired by the British subculture Rockers and Greasers.
