Buff EarsToTheGround In-Game Description[]

i can't believe people are putting on puppet shows out here in the garden district!

some bloody idiot stole their star puppet and gave it to that lunatic in the treehouse. maybe i can talk him out of it

what a heartwrenching scene of self sacrifice. if only those theatre people could have seen it. i hope their pay is half as moving.

the show must go on!

while everybody's watching the show, i suppose i could see what's upstairs. arthur would probably say something clever like, "Thus the great conundrum of culture: art is its own reward, but baby needs new shoes."

i've overstayed my welcome perhaps

Buff TrackStar Walkthrough[]

Enter the theatre and talk to the woman who'll inform Sally of their situation.

After the cutscene, head over to Johnny's Treehouse and talk to him. After a bit of persuasion, he agrees to give Sally Peachy for "A Very Secret Mission."

Go back to the theatre and give them the puppet, and they will start their show. While the show is going on, the player has to go upstairs.

Do note that while the player is exploring the house, they'll be trespassing, but none of the Wastrels will go after them just yet.

There's a couple of things upstairs that the player can get, but at the top of the house, sitting on the little chair is a single Boxing Shoe. Taking it will cause all of the people inside the theatre to go after Sally.

The quest ends when the player exits the house.

Sally: What happened to your dolly?

Woman: That loony who lives in the treehouse - he managed to convince some idiot to steal it. We can't put on our show without a puppet! And it's a shame. We're really the only fun people can have around here, unless you count taunting the bobbies.

Sally: Maybe I can talk to him, and convince him to give your doll back.

Woman: I doubt it. He thinks the doll is Peachy Carnehan -- one of his secret agents.

Sally: Hmmmm. I can be fairly convincing sometimes.

The Final Mission[]

Johnny: Can't you read? No girls allowed.

Sally: Even if one of those girls is a secret agent?

Johnny: You're an agent of the Special Operations Executive? Prove it!

Sally: I've been inside Dr. Verloc's lair.

Johnny: Shhhh! Don't say that out loud!

Sally: I've met Sergeant Stubbs. And know what his favourite code is. Do you?

Johnny: All right! All right. You're a secret agent.

Sally: Central needs Peachy to go on a secret mission. It's very important, very dangerous mission behind enemy lines.

Johnny: Peachy! You can't expect me to let you take Peachy!

Sally: Don't you think you should ask Peachy whether he wants to go or not?

Johnny: He doesn't want to go. Do you, Peachy?

Johnny: Oh. Oh. Well, that's very brave of you. No, of course, Peachy. We all know there's a war on. Well, if we don't meet again: it's been an honour to command you. Safe travels, Peachy.

Johnny: He says he'll go with you. God be with you both.

The Show Must Go On[]

Woman: Did you get our dolly?

Sally: I did! And I don't think you'll have more trouble with Johnny Bolton.

Woman: That's wonderful! Do you want to stay for our show? We'll be able to start it in a few moments, thanks to you!

Buff Conformist Trivia[]

  • This quest is a follow up of Arthur's quest, Get the Dolly. It suggests that, even if the player didn't do the quest, it's an event that occurs nonetheless.
  • The show that the puppet masters put on is the same transcript from Get the Dolly. It's a reference to The Doll's House, a play by Henrik Ibsen. The play deals with the fate of a married woman who, at the time in Norway, lacked reasonable opportunities for self-fullfilment in a male-dominated world.
