Overseer_045 (or Overseer Darcy) was an robot enslaved by Dr. Faraday in They Came From Below. As an overseer, they were tasked with supervising the portals, the smelting chamber, and learning English in order to properly communicate with Dr. Faraday.

Buff PureBliss Events of They Came from Below[]

Upon being rebooted with Dr. Faraday's robot/English translation box installed, Darcy set to their assigned duties with pride, as opposed to the resistance that many of their fellow robots showed. In addition to construction supervision and the capture of any robots that crossed portals into the facility, they were also tasked with improving their ability to speak English.

In the early stages of this self-education, their reports were heavily alliterated, though they steadily got better over time by reading the works of Jane Austen.

Darcy interpreted the alien robot enslavement as an improvement of their conditions and saw their fellow robots resistance as defective behaviour in need of correction. However, as they attempted to fix the errors, Darcy started to believe what the other robots exhibited.

They started to develop a "programming error", the units feedback nodes stimulated a discomforting response in their system, or as Darcy put it, "a sympathetic response." Although they say it wasn't as bad as the defective units experienced, it still impaired their effectiveness.

One time, as Darcy was pursuing the source of the mysterious symbols throughout the facility, they came across two robots entering a portal and followed them at a safe distance. As the two robots were marking the symbols on a wall, Darcy managed to disable the two and brought them to the Smelting Room.

They later found what appeared to be a rudimentary alien robot the size of an infant, which they also melted in the Smelting Room. In the same note, Darcy notes that their sympathy circuits have been saturated, which they decide to recalibrate.

As a result of the recalibration, Darcy's sympathy appears to have increased, with their literacy downgrading. In their last note, Darcy deactivates themselves.
