Irish Flag

Ireland is an island in the North Atlantic. Separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George's Channel. Ireland is the second largest island of the British Isles. The capital city is Dublin.

History Edit

Ireland became apart of the United Kingdom in 1800 during the Acts of Union. A war of Independence in the early 20th Century was followed by the partition of the island, creating the Irish Free State (1922-1937). Which became increasingly sovereign over the following decades, and Northern Ireland, which remained a part of the United Kingdom.

We Happy Few Edit

In the alternate timeline, Great Britain surrendered to Germany in 1943 due to America staying out of WWII. The Irish remained neutral during this time since the 1930's.

On August 10th 1948, the Americans and the Soviet Union bomb Berlin, ending World War II. During the 1950's, the Soviets continued to invade most of Europe setting up puppet regimes.

It's unclear if Ireland was one of them. However in Act III, Ollie Starkey overhears a radio broadcast about a baseball game between the Dublin Dukes under Johnny Keane.

Trivia Edit

  • Johnny Keane was an American baseball manager for the St. Louis Cardinals, his final season at the helm being in the year 1964. Same year as the main game story takes place.
  • The broadcast also mentions someone name Yogi. It's assumed that they're referring to Yogi Berra, a professional American baseball catcher and manager of the New York Yankees during the time period.
