India is a country in South Asia, it is the seventh largest country by area, and the second most populous country.
In We Happy Few, India serves a small role, only mentioned every now and then by other characters. It serves a slightly bigger role during the We All Fall Down DLC.
Events of We Happy Few[]
In 1858, Great Britain held territories in India, with an independence movement being held with the aim to end the British rule in India. Maharajkumari Indira Devi, the daughter of a king in India, was one of the few people who supported the movement.
Some time during the 1920's, Sir Robert Byng served in India and met Maharajkumari. Some time later, they had Victoria Byng. Because Robert wouldn't have been able to stay in India, he wanted to take Victoria back with him to Britain. Devi, fearing that Robert would've been seen as a traitor for having a mixed-race child along with her daughter being harassed for her race, decided that Victoria should stay with the King while Robert returned to Britain. This didn't go as she had planned.
Robert instead got Maharajkumari arrested for being involved with The Indian Independence Movement, taking Victoria with him back to Britain.
India would eventually gain independence in 1947, and it's implied that Victoria likely returns to India in 1964, as Wellington Wells falls into disarray.
