The Hope Diamond is a quest item in We Happy Few, only found as a reward during the side quest, The Salty Dog.

Buff TechFriendly Overview[]

The only way to obtain the Hope Diamond is to first return the Salty Dog to Cap'n Strawbeard, wait for him to go away where he can't see the player, and then search the taxidermied dog, which takes a while.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a use for the diamond, as it cannot be sold to any of the shopkeepers in Wellington Wells.

Buff EasilyForgotten Appearance[]

Although unseen in the game, the Hope Diamond is a huge blue jewel.

Buff Frenzy Unusability[]

The reason why it cannot be sold could be because the Hope Diamond is classified as a Quest Item and not a regular Item, and because Quest Items cannot be sold, the Hope Diamond is practically useless.

It's possible that the intended use for the Hope Diamond was to sell it to one of the shopkeepers, which would've given the player enough sovereigns to buy the Baby Feeder and Baby Transport from Lionel Castershire, as these items are required to finish Act II.

Buff Conformist Trivia[]

  • The Hope Diamond appears to be the same jewel in real life, which also goes by the same name. How Cap'n Strawbeard got his hands on the diamond is unknown.
    • It can be assumed that he stole it from Harry Winston in 1949, with consideration of the real jewel that was sold, but not stolen. It can also be assumed he stole it after Mrs. McLean's death in 1947.
