Objectives[]

In-Game Description[]

it was just a rat. a silly rat. in the wrong place. it doesn't mean anything.

i better go home and make sure gwen's okay. just in case.

mum always did say to pay attention to your premonitions. and then i didn't...

oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck.

fuck it's measels babies die of measles oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck!

How can she have measles?

What the hell do I do now?

i don't have high hopes he'll help. he sort of hates me, doesn't he.

i really better get out of here before anton realizes the bobbies aren't arresting me

scratch that. he doesn't "sort of" hate me. he just hates me.

arthur said he was living the garden district off the scraps of our former civilization. we always used to smoke at this one playground, when we could steal cigarette butts from the germans. we felt so grown up and roguish. spies, practically. anyway he's probably there.

and maybe he's cooled off a bit. he never could stay mad at me for long, not once he'd yelled at me.

i miss him so. i wanted to tell him, sure, i will get you a letter of transit for old times' sake. but i need cod liver oil. he was always so clever, i think maybe he can get it.

oh, yes, also i kissed him. what the hell did i do that for? i never kissed him before! i always thought it would fuck everything up. it fucked everything up with everyone else after all. god i hope i haven't fucked everything up with arthur. not now. please.

i need a letter of transit for arthur. it'll be nice to see the lads. they're always so friendly.

Walkthrough[]

Go to Sally's home, then head upstairs to the top floor to check-up on Gwen. Sally's relieved that Gwen is not in any immediate danger, until she notices that her daughter has developed a rather nasty rash and a bit of a fever. Concerned, she decides to grab her medical book to see what Gwen might be afflicted with.

Walk over to the small drawer directly close to the large circular bed, and the player will enter a cutscene with Sally browsing the book, where she becomes horrified as she realizes that Gwen has measles. However, it is treatable: all Sally needs is a bottle of Cod Liver Oil.

Sally knows that Anton, her ex, has God Liver Oil, but she's hesitant to go back to him because of previous sour events between the two. In the end, she decides that Gwen's health comes first, so she sets off for Haworth Labs.

Head on over to the Lab as indicated by the objective marker. Go to the entrance on the right to enter a cutscene.

Sally speaks to Constable Whistler, and Leighton. Both bobbies inform Sally that Dr. Verloc is still angry with her, but because of Sally's insistance to see him, they comply. Verloc, upon discovering Sally is in his lobby, flies into a bitter rage, lamenting on Sally's departure and the fact that she stole 'his' notes, which Sally refutes.

He refuses to hear her out, and orders the bobbies to arrest her before he kills the transmission. The constables, however, do not arrest Sally and instead allow her to leave, saluting her on the way out.

Suddenly, Sally remembers that Arthur was always rather resourceful, so she decides to pay him a visit in the Garden District for help.

Go to Lud's Holm and follow the objective marker to Arthur, who'll be sitting alone on a wooden swing at Temeraire Square. The park is not marked on the map in any way.

In another cutscene, Sally reveals that she can get Arthur a Letter of Transit, but requires the Cod Liver Oil in exchange. Arthur is upset and confused over the task, because for all he knows, Sally's mother used to torment her with the stuff as a kid. Nevertheless, he agrees to the task and sets off to get the bottle, while Sally goes to General Byng for the Letter of Transit.

From Lud's Holm, the player should be able to get to Ravensholm relatively quickly. Outside the processing gate is Sergeant Oldcastle, who readily opens the gate for Sally.

Head to the entrance of the camp itself, where the gate is wide-open. Doing so, Sally encounters a few soldiers who agree to escort Sally to the General.

In another cutscene, Sally is greeted by Byng within his personal office. She candidly asks for the letter, which the General obliges to, but before he does so, reflects on his earlier meeting with Sally a few days ago. He swears he heard a cat within her house, which Sally dismisses. However, Byng sees through her deception, and reveals that he wrote himself a note addressing the matter: "Sally has a baby."

Sally then pleads with the General, who explains that he could probably get Gwen out, but not Sally, whom he needs in Wellington Wells for the Blackberry for the constabulary.

Sally exits the camp as the quest ends there.

The Toxic Ex[]

Open/Close

Leighton: Miss Boyle! What a nice surprise. We haven't seen you in quite some time, have we, Constable Whistler?

Whistler: Indeed we have not, Constable Leighton. And may I say, ma'am, you brighten our day like ... like...

Leighton: Like blackberry Joy.

Whistler: What would we do without our blackberry Joy?

Leighton: And we thank you for it, don't we.

Whistler: I must say Dr. Verloc is not equally thankful. Seeing as you have become his primary competition.

Leighton: And he nurses a broken heart.

Whistler: Hell hath no fury, as they say. Are you quite sure you wish us to announce your presence?

Sally: Please.

Leighton: Dr. Verloc sir?

Anton: I said, no interruption!

Leighton: Doctor Verloc, sir, there is a young lady who wishes to see you.

Anton: You'll have to be more specific.

Leighton: You place me in a quandary, sir, as you have expressly forbidden me to speak her name on any account.

Anton: Sally?!

Sally: Hi.

Anton: Come crawling back, have you?

Sally: Please don't hate me, Anton.

Anton: Oh no? I teach you everything I know, you steal my notes--

Sally: They were my notes, Doctor--

Anton: You steal my business, and you have the nerve to come back here...

Sally: You locked me out in the rain! To teach me a lesson!

Anton: And then you replace me with Byng?!

Sally: Anton!

Anton: We were so close-- we were so close to cracking the isometric structure of the new molecule. I suppose you cracked it on your own, after you left, didn't you?

Sally: Doctor!

Anton: Your blackberry!

Sally: Doctor!

Anton: I don't care if the General's protecting you! You've gone too far this time!

Anton: Sergeant! Arrest her! She's a thief! Don't let her get away!

Leighton: I am sorry, Miss Boyle ...

Whistler: Perhaps you had better ...

Sally: Yeah, of course.

The Musketeer[]

Open/Close

Sally: I'm... sorry.

Arthur: For the past fourteen years I've sort of thought about what I'd say if ever I ran into you again, but... being a complete jealous arse about the General was--not really part of the plan.

Sally: Sir Robert's a client.

Arthur: Oh, Good! Hah, I mean...

Sally: I don't go around having sex with all my clients!

Arthur: No! No! -- uh, of course not!

Sally: ... I just ... I could ask him. He likes to feel important.

Arthur: ... Even after all those awful things I said?

Sally: We used to be Arthur and Sally. The Two Musketeers. Remember?

Arthur: Did you really come here just to offer me a Letter of Transit? Or did you want something?

Sally: I thought we could help each other.

Arthur: All right. What do you want?

Sally: I used to know I could trust you about anything.

Arthur: Of course you can trust me! What is it you want?

Sally: It's going to sound stupid but ... a bottle of cod liver oil.

Arthur: A bottle of cod liver oil -- Like your mum used to torment you with?

Sally: What if I told you it was a sort of a souvenir?

Arthur: Why on Earth would you want to remember your mum?

Sally: I don't know. I keep hoping I'll remember something that'll make it all better? Like maybe it was an accident, and she didn't mean to poison the soup? You know how Joy fucks up your memories. Look, if it's too much to ask...

Arthur: I suppose it would be too much to expect, "Don't worry, Arthur, I will ask my friend the General for a rotten scrap of paper, just for old time's sake."

Sally: Look, it's not exactly a souvenir. Things have gotten... a little more complicated than usual...

Sally: I'm sorry I fucked everything up. I wanted to die, you know. I thought about it. But I couldn't. Not after...

Sally: ... after ...

Arthur: ... what your Mum did.

Sally: ... what my Mum did.

Arthur: Look, I'll get it for you. The cod liver oil.

Sally: I missed you so.

Sally: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I'll -- I'll get you that Letter.

Arthur: I have to go.

Sally: I'm sorry.

Arthur: I really...really...

Sally: It just came out!

Arthur: ... just go... get you that bottle.

Arthur: See you back here... sometime. I'll let you know when I've got it.

Sally: I guess I've got to see the General now. Won't that be fun.

Victory Memorial Camp[]

Open/Close

Sally: Hello, boys. Keeping us safe?

Oldcastle: Next war can't come soon enough, if you ask me, Miss!

Soldier: Hope the Jerries come before my knees go, Ma'am!

Sally: I'll let the Jerries know you miss them!

---

Sally: Hello? Hello? Anybody home? It's Sally Boyle!

Sally: I'm not a German infiltrator, please don't ambush me!

Sally: Where are they?

Sergeant: Miss Boyle! We weren't expecting you!

Sergeant: Harry, why the fuck is the gate open --- 'Scuse my French, Ma'am --- I told you to close it!

Harry: No Sergeant, you didn't. You said you were gonna close it, but you had to go to the loo first.

Sergeant: No I didn't, I said, I'm going to the loo, why don't you close the gate--

Sally: Boys. Boys! You can close it now, if you like.

Sergeant: Right! Harry, close the gate, if you please, whilst I accompany Miss Boyle to the General's office.

General Byng Finds Out[]

Open/Close

Soldier: Miss Boyle! Won't he be happy to see you! He's trying to fix the boat again!

Sally: The one in the warehouse?

Soldier: You mean the one in the boat house, as is, ma'am.

Sally: They've moved the boat down to the water!

Soldier: And he's got Hardy patching it up. Hardy don't hardly know which end of a boat goes in the water.

Robert: If you don't think Hardy's up to it, find me someone who does know boats.

Robert: Sally!

Soldier: Suppose you drift away, sir. How we going to fetch ya?

Robert: What an unexpected pleasure!

Soldier: Army officers ought not to be potterin' about in boats, Sir.

Sally: I realized you must be almost out of Rainbow. You haven't been round in weeks.

Robert: Wasn't I round just a few days ago?

Sally: Dammit.

Sally: Oh, and a friend of mine left the Parade without a Letter of Transit. Now he can't get back to work. Isn't that silly?

Robert: Any friend of yours, my dear.

Sally: It's been too long, anyway.

Robert: Oddest thing. Last time I was there, I could swear I heard something that sounded like a cat. But I haven't seen a cat since the War. Have you? Fortunately, I wrote myself a note...

Robert: "Sally's got a ... baby."

Robert: What do you suppose that means?

Sally: Who knows?

Sally: Once you hallucinated that you were back in India and you kept saying, "But I don't want to shoot some poor bastard's elephant!"

Robert: You're as clever a liar as I am. You can lie with the truth.

Sally: You're cruel to toy with me, General.

Robert: It's Dr. Verloc's baby... isn't it?

Robert: No wonder you never told him. God knows what he'd do to a baby. You might have told me.

Sally: She's not your bloody baby. So what do you care?

Robert: Do you remember the children born after the War? We got some of them out, but ... They made everyone so unhappy.

Sally: Can- can you get us out?

Robert: I might be able to get her out. If I'm very clever. But no, I can't spare you.

Robert: What do you think would happen if our beloved bobbies ran out of blackberry Joy?

Robert: I've a safe house. Remember that abandoned building where you threw me that masquerade ball last year? I've cleaned it up a bit. Bring her there.

Sally: I'm not sending her away!

Robert: Why not? It's traditional! A single girl, in trouble, unequipped to take care of her baby... I'd have thought you'd be grateful.

---

Robert: You'll end up in one of Dr. Verloc's glass cells. And even I won't be able to save you.

Robert: You don't know what it's like to be alone, do you? A girl like you never is.

Robert: I think you know the way out.

Trivia[]

  • General Byng's Desk is the only Desk that can be locked and unlocked, only if the player uses console commands to enter his office after the cutscene.
  • Considering the events occuring during Act I, it's odd for Arthur to be back in the Garden District, since the last time he goes there is to get the bridge to St. George's Holm up so that he could apologize to Sally in the first place.
