Col. von Stauffenberg is a mysterious and highly influential figure in Wellington Wells, being a German military officer from the Wehrmacht and a former head of the Executive Committee.
History[]
Col. von Stauffenberg was the German military officer in charge of the occupation authority of Wellington Wells and when the city was occupied, Von Stauffenberg dissolved the original government, had all of its members hanged and installed the Executive Committee as the new ultimate authority of the city.
He was responsible for forcing the city to surrender all children under the age of 13 to the Authority. According to Robert Byng, only Von Stauffenberg knew the true purpose of The Very Bad Thing.
He also seems to be responsible for the disassembly of the cars throughout Wellington Wells, as he ordered all vehicles to be surrendered to the municipal authorities.
His current status after the end of the German occupation is unknown.
Trivia[]
- He shares his name with Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg who, along with Major Generals Hans Oster and Henning von Tresckow, attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler in the 20th of July plot as part of Operation Valkyrie.
- It is unknown whether they are intended to be the same person, or if the "von Stauffenberg" name was picked as a suitable German-sounding name for the character.
- Because von Stauffenberg is a very specific surname that is heavily associated with the Schenk von Stauffenberg family name, and Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg is the best-known member of the family, it's likely that the Col. von Stauffenberg mentioned in-game is Claus.
