Old Bridges[]

In the Pre-Alpha Builds of We Happy Few, the game generated a random challenge for the player to overcome any time they wanted to go to another area. Below are the following challenges the player could've encountered.

Some bridges were specifically designed in a way in which one side of the bridge fit with the Garden District, and the other side with Hamlyn Village. However, because of the random generation of the map, it was possible for bridges to spawn the other way around, so the Garden District side of the bridge ended up connecting to Hamlyn Village.

Bobbies[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11219 build, this bridge is interesting as there are only two Bobbies guarding the bridge, who'll run and beat up any Wastrel who gets too close, inlcuding the player. If the player didn't tear up their Proper Suit at the start of the game, they'd be able to pass by unscathed.

Bushy Bridge[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11219 build, this bridge features no actual challenge and can simply be passed by. It's simply a very tall billboard with some tall bushes in the way of the entrance.

Crier's Tea Party[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11915 build, this bridge features no actual challenge and is just an open bridge the player can walk past. There are many bobbies, wellies, and criers on the bridge, some of which sit by the tables drinking tea.

Euphoric Maze[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11915 build, the player had to pass through a maze filled with Joyeous gas to get to the other side.

Joy Detector Gate[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11219 build, the player needed to be high on whatever drug also made them high on Joy, including Purple Pills and Red Pills. Interestingly, the player would be able to disable the Revolver by removing the Power Cell to the nearby control box.

Motilene Spill[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11219 build, in order to pass this bridge, the player needs to walk on the planks over the motilene puddles. If the player instead steps on the motilene, their health will decrease very fast until they're not standing on the puddle anymore. Dead wellies lie next to the motilene spill, indicating the danger of it.

11915[]

Wastrel's Camp[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11219 build, the player needed to lockpick the door leading to Hamlyn Village with a Disposable Lockpick. The Wastrel's side is covered in greenery and rubbel, with weapons and campfires scattered throughout. The Wellie's side is considerably clean, with benches, waste bins, propaganda posters, and signs reading 'Downer Breach' placed throughout. Interestingly, there's a note on the Wellie's side of the door reading 'Do not open'.

Work in Progress Bridge[]

One of the many possible randomly spawning bridges in the 11219 build, this bridge featured a non-functioning Revolver with a power box and some materials nearby, and a Bobby guarding the bridge. The Bobby will attack any nearby Wastrel who gets too close, including the player.

Emerald City Bridge[]

The one and only bridge connecting Hamlyn Village to Emerald City, this bridge will always spawn in the 11219 build. The only way to enter is through the Revolver, once inside, the player has to traverse through the corridor filled with Joy gas. Once on the other side, the player can exit the bridge through the other Revolver. To pass by safely without going through a Joy Overdose, the player must have a Psychotropic Syringe on hand, as it will decrease their Joy meter.

Dr. FreeJoy's Checkpoint[]

Honey Toll Bridge[]

One of two randomized bridges that used to connect Eel Pie Holm to Lud's Holm, the player had to gather honey and then pay the man operating the bridge in order to pass through. The player would've also been able to climb up to the place the man was held in and steal their honey back.

The man was able to be killed off, but he'd eventually respawn with a different name.

Blenheim Bridge[]

One of two randomized bridges that used to connect Eel Pie Holm to Lud's Holm, the player had to repair a broken pipe and then find a pipe valve for the door.

Security Door[]

Mentioned on one of the update posts, dated 2015. Further information needed.

Buff Conformist Trivia[]

  • The Euphoric Maze Bridge features a unique sign that reads 'Downers Welcome!'.
  • The names for the bridges all reference battles that took place in real life, with the only exception being Britannia Bridge.
    • Most of the bridges share its name with certain quests.
  • Unlike bridges in real life that are designed to help people cross from one place to another, the bridges in Wellington Wells were designed to keep people in their place.
