Anne McCutcheon is an unseen Wellie in We Happy Few. She is mentioned in a newspaper clipping found during the Prologue, inside Prudence Holmes' office.
The 'Breeder' Riot[]
The aforementioned newspaper clipping details how Anne and her husband, Cyril, were attacked by Ranulph Alderly and three unnamed women on the 6th of November, 1951. Although she and her husband ended up okay, the baby's condition is unknown.
The arresting officers of the assaulters commented, "It is dangerous for women who are in a family way to strut their condition about. Frankly, it sets people off, when decent folk are doing their level best to forget."
